Reflection: A to Z Challenge

Cheers to a wonderful  experience in writing for A to Z Challenge – April 2016! It was really a fulfilling and enjoyable activity all throughout the entire month. What I enjoyed the most is the camaraderie developed between participants. Writing a post almost everyday and reading other’s work, leaving comments and answering back gave my blog more exposure and garnered me additional blogs to follow. Truly, blog-o-sphere offers a world in the net where people can be who they really are and can express themselves artistically in various writing styles.

My theme is poetry about life or love. Kindly check all my entries here. Of all the poems I’ve written for this challenge, my favorite is the 24th letter of the alphabet:

 

XENIA

We all travel in this life
Sometimes burdened with some plight
Our paths, gone out of sight
Aching to see a speck of light

She greets with a sweet smile
Coupled with sparkling eyes
Welcomes guest with open arms
A cup of coffee to keep them warm

Truly she have a heart so stout
Her company extends from North to South
So if you long to find some rest
Go to her house and be her guest!

Head turner I’m always told

Tantalizing eyes
Sweetest smile
Never fail to mesmerize
All are willing to pay a price

Such a victim of vanity
An object of other’s jealousy
If they can only realize
There’s more in me than what meets the eye

I don’t give a damn
When they bring me down
Won’t lend them a frown
Though my world’s upside down

I just set aside
Hold on to my pride
It’s not worth my time
Even a penny or dime

You can’t see me pout
When facing a bout
They can’t stand a chance
Defeated? Not even once!

Or swim in a lake of mud
Exhaust all my energy
To pick up all pieces of me

In your heart you buried me
I admire your temerity
Stealing every inch of me
Then left me almost empty

Are you really so numb?
You explode like a bomb
Now I’m a fallen debris
Can’t be as whole as can be.

Think of its moment of brevity
Face your battles with fortitude
Deal with it with right attitude

Remain standing with every bout
Even some eyes speak some doubt
And when no one seems to understand
You can still hold your own hand

You can always self indulge
Watch your own wonders as it unfolds
In your own voice you can be bold
As long as your worth you always hold.

That brings heartache and gloom
A love that once bloomed

But memories survived
