Weekly Quotes To Ponder 40

spacing-out

There are moments when we’re ‘spacing out’ or having a mental block. The world seem to stop revolving, the time standing still.
I know all of us experienced this thing not only once. Maybe that is our mind’s response once it reaches its limit. It seems that it automatically shuts itself off once it’s been used up already? If this is the case, why are there still people who lost their sanity? Is it because their will is weak? Or is it because they choose to lose their mind? Ah! even these questions doesn’t make any sense to me but somehow gives me something to ponder about. No wonder, it is hard to be an understanding person.

I just stumbled upon this quote and I can’t help but share it while smiling at myself at the same time in our 40th Weekly Quotes To Ponder feature. This is really a spot on. Do you agree with this quote? I would be delighted to read your comments.

And before I conclude this post, let me leave you another quote from David C. Pack. This is one hell of a statement I just can’t ignore:

“Most people live their entire lives without a clue as to why they are here. They drift aimlessly, unconcerned about the answers to life’s greatest questions-why life and why death? Others enjoy debating the meaning of life, but never arrive at the correct answers. Many conclude that mankind is little more than a product of evolution-blind, dumb luck!”

Then an answer from the Word of God – The Bible:

fear-of-god

That’s what I got after ‘spacing out’. More insights to what life’s all about. Thank God for all the wisdom and for His saving grace. I now know what my life’s purpose and I’m following it.

Honestly, I don’t know how to introduce him. I know that I have so many good things to say about this man. But I think the best way to describe him is… he is the ‘Most Sensible Preacher‘ in our time.  I thank God for Bro. Eli Soriano . He preaches honestly and his answers are direct from the Bible or word of God. And even though some people may hate him from telling the truth, he will still say it.

Tokens of Gratitude: Thank GOD

thanks

Last week, I made a commitment that I will make a weekly journal of thanksgiving, so here’s my first article. There’s so much to be thankful for in this life. For me, the first and foremost that is worthy of our gratefulness would be the creator, our Almighty God – the God of the Bible. Kindly read this article written by Mr. Controversy: Forever Offering Thanksgiving. The author clearly discussed everything about giving thanks to the Lord in every circumstances.

I will be forever thankful to our Almighty God for the highest calling. Being affiliated with Members Church of God International or MCGI for about more than four years is the greatest gift I received from God. Knowing the real God, the God of the Bible made a significant change with the way I look at life and with the way I deal with others. From being a worldly person, I became more aware that while taking care of our physical body is essential, spiritual aspect is way more important. Reading, hearing, and meditating the words of God in the Bible became a part of my everyday life and I’m in love with it! The wisdom bestowed by God is the most overwhelming experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in this world.

I would like to share this YouTube video, I hope you too would be inspired by this song. It acknowledges the loving kindness of the Lord and how He touches our lives.

Let me also end this article with the song below. Thank God for all of you reading this post and hope you can relate and reflect.

Until next week of this ‘Tokens of Gratitude’ feature. Best wishes!

Weekly Quotes To Ponder 5

“Let us cross the bridge when we get there…”

These are the words that I usually tell myself when I have to resolve a difficult situation.

You might think that I am an easy-go-lucky person or you might say that I don’t deal with problems seriously. It may seem like that…

I may be hopeless most of the time but I have high hopes. I do have some fears and I tend to worry at times, but my faith in God is more than enough antidote for stress. It’s what really helped me survive.

trust

I’ve kept these words at the tablet of my heart and meditate on them when faced with difficulties and I always find solace. Furthermore, I’ve learned not to dwell in the past hurts, make the most of the happy things in the present, and look forward positively in the future. And the outcome is great! Take my word for that. He answers prayers in three ways: Yes, and gives you what you want; No, and gives you something better; Wait, and gives you want you want in its own time. Though oftentimes we don’t understand what’s happening in our lives, we just have to put our trust in Him because He will never fail us.

How about you? What do you usually do when faced with life’s troubles? I would really appreciate it if you would share your thoughts.

Weekly Quotes To Ponder 4

Cheers for the fourth installment of our ‘Weekly Quotes To Ponder’. Today, I also celebrate my fourth birth day in spirit. I’ve been baptized and been affiliated with MCGI (Members Church of God International) since 2012. It was the greatest and the most wonderful gift I received in my whole life, ever! I can’t thank God enough for the highest calling.

I am a kind of person who always welcome positive thoughts even in the midst of unpleasant situations. I may be helpless most of the time but I have high hopes.

When we are bombarded by a lot of life’s troubles. We are presented with two options: Either we break down or we break through. Whatever choice we make will determine the outcome of our struggle.

The measure of our happiness or misery
depends upon our dispositions, and
not upon our circumstances…

Marks of the Seer

As Bro. Eli speaks, I also sniff the shabu’s smoke from the filter. My two senses were taking different drugs at the same time: My nose was inhaling the shabu smoke, while my ears were tuned to the words of God in the Bible.

By Conrado Pagulayan

My life before I was called in the Church of God is what is called a “non-sense” life.

I was a drunkard. I was also addicted to drugs, particularly marijuana. Marijuana is usually smoked as a cigarette. One experiences some high when smoking marijuana. There is pleasure in it, but it can distort perceptions.

I also came to the point that I could not perform any task without taking any shabu. Shabu is a prohibited drug that is addictive and destructive. These are some of the following effects for an occasional user: i) Insomnia which can last for as long as three days…

The Choice I’ve Made

I must admit, I am not a result-oriented person. But it feels great to accomplish something that I never thought I can.

Philosophy is one of my favorite subject in college and one of the most interesting topic we had was about ‘Existentialism’.

Existentialism is a philosophy that emphasizes individual existence, freedom and choice. It is the view that humans define their own meaning in life, and try to make rational decisions despite existing in an irrational universe.

I could still remember, we had a debate that day. Our professor wrote these two sentences:

I Live My Life or My Life is Lived

In Philosophy, no answer is incorrect. So whatever we choose, we need to take our stand in the topic. From the meaning of the word, Existentialism, well I guess you have an idea which one I chose.

Free-will is one of the greatest gift that God bestowed to humans. He gave us the chance to choose between good or bad; right or wrong. But of course, whatever choices we make in this life, we have to face the consequences.

Let me share these verses in the Bible:

chup

If I am going to sum up the verses above, I would conclude that God Almighty is really the author of compassion. He doesn’t want us to perish, so He gave us an idea that even though bad or evil is part of the option we should choose good so that we may live a life.

A penny for my thoughts

” I didn’t want to, I don’t intend to, and I really hate myself for what I did…but I can’t help it.”

These words keeps on reverberating in my head. The more I ignore it the more it sticks in me, and I’m afraid it is starting to overcome me. I need to do something to get out of this mess!

Why do people lie?

According to University of Massachusetts psychologist, Robert Feldman : “It’s tied in with self-esteem, we find that as soon as people feel that their self-esteem is threatened, they immediately begin to lie at higher levels.” The farther one’s true self is from their ideal self, the more likely they are to lie to boost themselves up, in others’ eyes or their eyes… or perhaps how they perceive others to perceive them.

Well, personally I do small lies to avoid conflict or to protect someone’s feelings of getting hurt or getting upset. I think these are the top motivators for deception. But no matter what the intentions or reasons behind lying, it is still a sin.

The Bible says in James 3:8, “But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”

The tongue can be the most wicked weapon on earth, so use it wisely and speak your words with caution. As Christians, we shouldn’t fill our lives with deceit. But, since we are all humans, sometimes it is hard to avoid lying. The option to lie should not be in a Christian’s life; we should always speak the truth no matter what the end result may be. And besides there is always a way to being honest without being brutal.

LIE6

Easier said than done. We all know that saying the truth is one of the hardest things in life. It takes a lot of guts and determination to stand with what is true. Maybe because most of us would rather stay in our comfort zone and avoid conflict that take some risk and cause bad feelings to others. Oftentimes, we don’t really intend to lie to someone but because we prejudged their reactions towards the truth that we’re going to tell them it compels us to say a lie. I have done it several times. And believe me, every time I did, I always get the worst feeling a person could feel in this world and that is FEAR.

So next time you want to lie, ask yourself first…is it worth all the troubles? IT IS NOT!!!
